Just for the hell of it I been taking notes.
Yesterday there were 3 posts on camtekgen pineapple paradise
Yesterday there were 33 posts on JFFC Pineapple Paradise
Yesterday there were 37 posts on camtekgen JFFC
Yesterday there were 26 posts on Linked JFFC Group
So thats a total of 40 posts made by foks who thought they were posting on the "Official JFFC and Pineapple Paradise newsgroups who were actually just posting on Camteks private JFFC club.
That just ain't right. Its not fair to the members of the club. Its not fair to the linked servers. Its not even fair to the folks who posted on camtekdigital.com.
The only public comment I have read about this subject from Rick Bradbury was a snotty little reply calling Frisco the "Savior of the Servers."
Quite frankly, it is my opinion that Camtek would not even have a news server if it had not been for the cooperation of the JFFC members changing IP numbers sometimes two or three times a day and hanging in there with him and helping him make it a success. Then when the other members put out an honest effort to get the groups on mirrored servers he pulled the plug and changed the name of all the JFFC groups to camtekdigital.gen groups. In effect creating for his own benefit a private club which he owns and does not include the posts made on the other servers.
He has learned as much from this experience as anyone else although he denies it. He says in one post that he has been running a server for years. In the next breath he says he created his server to help JFFC because they lost the MSN newsgroup.
JFFC never had an MSN newsgroup. MSN had a bbs with JFFC stuck on it that was monitored and censored by MSN employees and was mostly dominated by stationary and fractal groups. It was cancelled because of the big brooha over copyrighted music files.
Our alt.club.jffc newsgroup got skewered by the trolls because we were posting binaries in a plain text newsgroup and because of The Big Okra War I bombarded the anal group with. That was just the first step in getting most alt groups to ignore the no binary posting. Many of the groups now openly state that binarys are welcome. Whether or not they show up on all the groups is up to the individual servers. It is not controlled by the anal group anymore.
JFFC was not created by some asshole (and he knows who he is) posting a looping script post on msn25 either. He thought he was being funny. I thought he was being childish and inconsiderate of other participants in the msn25 newsgroup. I think he is still being childish and inconsidrate of the total group of participants in JFFC.
I think its time that all JFFC groups be linked or the JFFC designation being removed from the newsgroups. Under no circumstance does anyone have the right to post his company name as a prefix to a JFFC newsgroup.
