The Usenet newsgroup alt.clubs.just-for-fun was created just for fun on 18 Feb 1998 for the sole purpose of providing a place to have fun on the internet and finding the answer to the question:

What is Fun?

This does not mean that as a citizen of the Internet community you are only allowed to have fun in this group, all it means is that this Newsgroup was created just for the fun of it.  The JFFC is more of an idea than a thing.  It is a group of people who have come together for the common purpose of having fun on the internet.  We desire to expand our knowledge of computers while sharing what we already know with one another and those who visit the alt.clubs.just-for-fun newsgroup.

What is on Topic?

On Topic posts consist of anything a poster wishes to talk about or share. Any quoted material used in a post should be properly attributed and is the responsibility of the original poster to give credit where credit is due.

Debates and disagreements are one of the things that keep newsgroups interesting but personal attacks should be avoided.  However, Family Squabbles do occur and usually conclude with most agreeing to disagree or, better yet, learning something new and reaching a new understanding with the other participants.  Kissing and makeup sessions are held every Friday at 7 PM.  No smoking allowed.

What is Off-Topic?

Addresses, phone numbers and other real-life information about anyone should not be posted in this newsgroup.

Plain-text and HTML (Web Site Urls) are allowed in this Newsgroup. However some Newsgroup/ISP Servers view HTML/Rich Text as binaries and the posts are filtered.

What is HTML?

Definition for:  HTML

HyperText Markup Language.  The language used to create World Wide Web pages, with hyperlinks and markup for text formatting (different heading styles, bold, italic, numbered lists, insertion of images, sounds, etc.).

Lizard

What is a binary?

Definition for:  binary file

A file that contains codes that are not ASCII characters.  A binary file could be a file with executable machine language code.  Binary files must be encoded in order to transmit them over a network, and decoded on the receiving end.  BinHex and uuencode are two programs which can be used to encode binary files.

Please don't post binaries in alt.clubs.just-for-fun.  Since HTML posts are allowed in this group it is not advisable to cross post to non-Jiffy newsgroups.

That's about it for the rules and regulations.  Keep in mind that you need to be responsible enough to discern what is real and what is Just For Fun< and of course possess the desire to have fun!

In a nutshell, you can do just about anything you want.
