MONTAGUE, MONTAGUE COUNTY, TEXAS
This amazing edifice was built when the blacksmith next door to Ms. Pruitt’s whorehouse went out of business. The blacksmith used to handle the mail by horse carriage but business got too slow to make a profit so the United States Government took over. Replacing the $150 yearly loss of the horse carriage delivery with this $500,000.00 building and a staff with salaries that total $350,000. The deficit is kept low by not having any delivery service. The 75 people who live in Montague pick up their mail at the post office. Of course there is the disabled persons consideration to be recognized so the Montague, Texas Post Office does have a person on duty 24/7 to handle disabled mailing problems. This costs an additional $175,000 but is paid for by the Department of Disabled Mail Recipients and is not a post office expense.
This post office is modern in every aspect. They sell stamps. You can drop off mail there for delivery to any place in the world. You can also pick up any mail there that happens to be addressed to you or anyone you know. They also have mailboxes for rent.
There has been criticism of this post office in the past. It was suggested that the United States Government just reimburse the blacksmith the $150 he was losing for delivering the mail. Bob Cox had been elected County Judge by then and condemned the property for use by the Government. Ms. Pruitt let the blacksmith move his business to the back of the lot behind the whorehouse and the $200,000 he got for his property enabled him and his two employees to fuck themselves to they hearts extent. Ms. Pruitt was able to discontinue the washateria part of her business and now she and her girls spend they full time running the whorehouse in a very efficient manner.
