Discussion/Binary Group
It's very easy to find mass quantities of answers but almost impossible to find good questions. This is no exception.
This newsgroup was created to help keep binary files out of the original newsgroup alt.clubs-just-for-fun. You may ask "What is a binary file?" Many feuds and disagreements have been generated over what is or is not a binary file. The following is a textbook definition:
Definition for: binary file
A file that contains codes that are not ASCII characters. A binary file could be a file with executable machine language code. Binary files must be encoded in order to transmit them over a network, and decoded on the receiving end. BinHex and uuencode are two programs which can be used to encode binary files.
That's fine but what is allowed in this newsgroup?
Posts with attachments of pictures or other binary files and of course embedded files in HTML formatted posts. Posts with sound.
Is there a post size limit?
We expect that you would do the polite thing and mention in the Subject of your post that a binary is larger than 100K. We also expect that everybody have the appropriate browser and use features that would tell them how large other posts are on JIFFY. <DUH>
How do I view the different formats?
If you need instructions, we the dedicated Jiffians will be glad to help you. But, you will have to stoop way below your stupid Sock Puppet and ask for help.
Ok so what is not allowed in this newsgroup?
Pornography:
1. Sexually explicit material: films, writings, photographs, or other materials that are sexually explicit and intended to cause sexual arousal.
2. Sexual images industry: the production or sale of sexually explicit films, or other materials.
Oh come on!!!!
All right cartoons are ok but not full frontal nudes of men or women or others... either alone or engaged in a sexual act.
